Getting to Know the Author:

Welcome, Nadia. Let’s get to HeartCapture Escape coverknow more about you …

What is your genre? Why did you choose it?

Suspense/Thriller anCapture Ziggy Returns coverd paranormal (ghosts). I’ve always enjoyed reading thrillers, so it is a genre that came easy to me. Although, I do have an inspirational romance that will release in 2014, and a picture book for children.

Do you work on more than one manuscript at a Capture People of Kilmservy Village covertime?

I do. I write what nags at me the most, characters who will not rest until I put their story to paper. Unless I’m on a deadline. In that case, I finish the most pressing project.

Do you work with a writing/critique group?

Not often, but when I do, I work with a small group of writers online.

Can you remember your first reading book?

I don’t remember the picture books from early childhood. However, two selections from later in my childhood come to mind. The first, Aesop’s Fables. Second, a volume of poetry which included works by Byron, Keats and Shelley.

Do you nibble on snacks while writing? If so, what is your chosen treat?

Yes I do! Hot & Spicy Cheez-It crackers are a must have on my desk. Cashew nuts are another favorite, and a jar of peanut butter with an ample supply of clean tea spoons.

Mm, peanut butter!

Tidy desk or a bombsite? Describe your writing area with us.

My desk looks like an atom bomb went off nearby. But, I know where everything is. I have a small lamp that sits above and behind the monitor and lists and photos thumb-tacked to the wall in front of me. I also have a large black Norwegian Forest cat named Zsa Zsa, who sprawls out around the computer. When I’ve been working too long without paying attention to her, she swipes the mouse away from my hand and walks between me and the computer.

Sounds as crazy as my writing area, minus the cat.

Are you published in the traditional manner or self published? Share your journey.

My books are published with Master Koda Select Publishing, a small publisher out of Utah, USA. In the beginning, my intention was to self publish. I later decided that it made more sense (for me at the time) to go with a publisher. Someone who knows the business of the craft and cares about their authors careers, as well as, personal growth. By going with the MKSP house, I’ve learned a lot and feel blessed to be connected with Kim Mutch Emerson and the team.

Who would you say have been the three most influential authors in your reading/writing life?

Margaret Mitchell, Dean Koontz and Harper Lee. Depending on the day, these are apt to change. I’ve learned much from so many authors – past and present.

What advice would you like to share with other writers/authors with regard to preparing a manuscript?

Most importantly, get the words down on paper. Don’t worry about grammar, punctuation, and such. Get it down. Then, edit. Finally, have a professional editor go through it. Without professional edits, a great story might be passed over by readers.

If the movie rights to your novels are purchased, who would you like to play your main characters?

Christopher Douglas as Gabriel Stuttshire. Jennifer Lawrence, Hayden Panettiere or Tracy Spiridakos as Carolyn Breckenship. Donal Logue as Jim Breckenship.

I was on my way to the supermarket, when … Do you have a tale to tell relating to an everyday, boring event?

Hmm Yes, something that may seem boring to others, brings a smile to my face every day. I have a free range hen, Miss Mary, that runs the property with the dogs. She is always with them. She run-waddles to the gate to meet anyone who drives up. She also follows along behind me when I go on walks in the woods. She eats dog food right from the dish with the dogs, and sleeps where they sleep.

Wow, I would love Miss Mary!
