Book Cover Reveal: Heels & Hearts by Glynis Smy

Yes, it’s me. Busy me. I am knee-deep in edits for my medical romance novel. Writing a different genre is quite a challenge but one I am enjoying on a daily basis. When my eyes are tired from research for my historical novels, I drop by to see how my leading lady, Jessica Daniels, is getting along.

Using a little bit of my background as a nurse and having lived in Cyprus, it was fun drawing on my past knowledge. I did have problems trying not to force them to work with Florence Nightingale, but eventually I kept them in the present.

Then came the challenge of the cover. I created one using beiges and peach, with a hint of blue. It was pretty but not punchy enough. After advice from Jessica Bell (creator of the new Maggie’s Child cover), I realised I needed to study the covers of chick lit and medical romances a little more. I read them, enjoy the covers but had never really thought about their colours. Then it dawned on me, I pick them because they stand out, their colours attract. It has been a learning curve but one I have enjoyed. So grab your sunglasses as I introduce …

H&H styledHeels and Hearts, due for release, May / June 2015.

As the practice manager of a local clinic, Jessica Daniels is coping with her new co-worker but only just, and it opens her eyes to her emotional well-being.

Hurt during a work romance and vowed never again to mix business with pleasure, Doctor Andreas Konstantinou is a distraction she could do without. The Greek Cypriot doctor is quite a looker and Jessica finds it a struggle to focus.

After a celebratory drinks evening with his new colleagues, Andreas confesses his pleasure, he loves a pretty feminine leg in a heeled shoe. Although not a fetish, it is something he learned to appreciate as a young lad.
Jessica takes a close look at herself and realises she is dowdy and has neglected her life. A new pair of shoes, a change of clothing, a new job and a seminar abroad, all alter her pathways and she sees the doctor in a new light. Unfortunately, they always find a way to hurt each other and love never quite grasps their desire for each other.

Two serious events bring them together and they work well as a medical team. Love still struggles to the surface for Jessica – until a pair of shoes and a kitten show her it’s okay to let Andreas into her life, but is she too late?
